PRINTING TECHNIQUES AVAILABLE

screen printing

SCREEN PRINTING

Screen printing is a technique where a mesh is utilized to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in zones made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate immediately along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multi-colored image or design.

vinyl

VINYL

Vinyl printing is when a sheet of polyurethane (pu) vinyl is cut to produce a design which is then applied through heat onto the garments. Vinyl printing is a technique of printing that is generally constrained to 1 color print. It’s best to use dark-colored t-shirts for printing so that the print comes neatly.

dtg printing

DTG PRINTING

Direct-to-garment printing (DTG) is a procedure of printing on textiles using specialized aqueous inkjet technology. DTG printers typically have a platen designed to hold the garment in a fixed position, and the printer inks are jetted or sprayed onto the textile by the print head. Since this is an advanced digital process the print is sharper and has a higher resolution, or DPI, than traditional printing methods. DTG has the ability to print just one single shirt for minimal expense.

sublimation

SUBLIMATION

Sublimation printing uses heat to basically bring ink and fabric together as one. Design is printed onto a special paper. The inks that are utilized transform into gas when brought under heat then it is consolidated with the fabric and permanently printed onto the fabric. The process is practically like a tattoo, but instead of for your skin, it’s for your chosen product. The heat opens up the pores of the fabric, then with the applied pressure the ink cools and returns to a solid form.

heat transfer

HEAT TRANSFER

With heat transfer, also known as digital transfer, your customized logo or design is printed onto transfer paper and then ink is thermally transferred from the paper to your fabric using heat and pressure.

Things You Should Know Before Printing a T-Shirt

Quantity & Quality

  • You have to decide which t-shirt printing technique should be used for good quality printed t-shirt and if the quantity is below 10, we recommend you to opt for either DTG or vinyl.
  • If the quantity is more and the design is single or up to three colors, screen printing will be the best option.
  • If it’s a single color design, vinyl is the best alternative.

T-shirt printing

  • A vector graphic is always recommended for the t-shirt printing process. If possible, try to get high-quality JPEG or PNG images of the artwork before printing.
  • Scalar graphics like pixel-based images will give you moderate results in t-shirt printing.

What Should You Know Before Ordering Custom Made T-Shirts?

  1. How many colors are in your design? The more colors, the more expensive the printing will cost. Most t-shirt printing vendors print up to a total of 8 flat PMS colors.
  2. Talk to your t-shirt printing vendor. Know exactly how he/she wants the files. From a production point of view, it’s important to have files in an ideal format to produce amazing output.
  3.  Specify particular PMS colors for your t-shirt to the printing vendor. This will ensure that your design will be printed exactly you want.
  4.  Do you want your design on the front as well as on the back of the t-shirt? If so, be prepared to pay more as printing on both sides of the t-shirt leads to an increase in costs.
  5.  A design that is created with CMYK process colors will always be more expensive than flat PMS colors. The vendor will need to break down your CMYK colors into specific spot colors using a special Photoshop plug-in. The plug-in analyzes the colors, creates channels and splits the channels into 8 full-tone spot plates. Not only does this take more time, but its also much more expensive.

The only time this process is cost-effective is when you are printing a large number of t-shirts for big groups, companies or sports teams.
